About

Broad and Pattison is a blog dedicated to the Philadelphia Flyers. It was created in November of 2008 in large part because there are not too many Flyer-centric blogs on the web. B&P fills the void with sensible humor, hard-hitting commentary, and a fans perspective.

About the Author

B&P is written by Travis Hughes, a sophomore broadcast journalism major at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. Born in Philadelphia, he is a fan of all Philadelphia sports, from the Flyers to the World Champion Phillies to the Kixx to Big Five Basketball. He has lived in Southern New Jersey his entire life, and he can guarantee you that, no matter how badly they try to force it upon people, the Devils are not “Jersey’s Team”. Exiled in CT during the school year, he huddles around his laptop on game nights to catch games on his Slingbox. He has baby pictures in Flyers gear, recent pictures in Flyers gear, and he’ll have old man pictures in Flyers gear.

Travis is a 2007 graduate of Absegami High School, the place where his love for journalism and sports first collided. He began his broadcasting career with GAMI-TV, calling play-by-play action for Absegami’s state champion girls’ basketball team. In 2007, he was named Best Sports Broadcaster by the AHS media department. He has also been honored for his behind the scenes skills, earning the award for Best Technician on G-TV’s live, daily morning news show.

At Quinnipiac, Travis’ horizons have grown even further. He co-hosts a weekly sports talk show titled The Field of Play on 98.1 FM WQAQ. He has done play-by-play and color commentary for both WQAQ and Q30 Television on many of Quinnipiac’s NCAA Division 1 sporting events, including ice hockey, basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer. Travis has written for the campus newspaper, the QU Chronicle, and his writing has also been featured at TOTK.com and flyershive.com.
